Lime plaster completed on this old cottage in Dorset, installed on gauged chalk quicklime scratch coats. The fireplace had been blocked in after many adaptions in its life and covered with plastic tanking - chalk clunch not loving that 😬 #cob #chalk
Cottage we recently lime rendered after removing cement renders which weren’t allowing the cob to breath. The ‘slate’ weatherproof plinth has gone replaced with lime pointing allowing the base of the cottage to breath as well #lime

Nice stonework the crazy hard cement was hiding on this cottage - once originally just lime washed to keep the damp at bay. The lintels will be replaced with air dried oak and may actually reach the brickwork this time 😂. We will repair & repoin
Cement render is not good covering cob or limestone - water can get trapped behind the tanking and can freeze and pop the cob/stone - usually requiring a fair bit of remedial work to put right - really looking forward to putting this Dorset cottage
